Many years ago I heard about a canoe/kayak trip in Canada (I believe
in BC or Alberta) that included 3 or 4 lakes, multiple portages, and
some amazing wilderness.
I thought the name was the Bowern Lakes or the Bowern Chain Lakes, but
I'm unable to find any info.
Does anyone know what I'm talking about???
I'm looking for info (books, links, those that have been there) for
info on kayaking the loop this summer.
Many thanks in advance,
roger >> Stay informed about: Multi-Lake Canoe/Kayak trip in Canada ??? |

I expect that's the Bowron Lakes in BC. I've never been there but see

It's in central British Columbia. I've done it late season ( post Labor
Day) It's a great trip. Do a web search for Bowron Lakes. It's about a
hundred miles, with the longest portage starting from the parking lot. (1.2
miles) Some bear, some moose, great scenery. There are rentals there at
the lodge as far as boats, but they aren't the lightest. >> Stay informed about: Multi-Lake Canoe/Kayak trip in Canada ??? |

Thanks for the post... Since you've done the circuit before I was
curious if a kayak (specifically a fiberglass sea kayak) is
appropriate for the trip... I have a canoe but I have never done an
extended trip in it (compared to kayaking in which I've done numerous
multi-day trips in open water and on lakes).

Looking to purchase my first canoe for a lake - I've never owned a canoe before, but I used to work on the canoes at Disneyland. I thought it was fun, and enjoyed the exercise.
